How long does a visa take?

It depends on the country. Each embassy or consulate sets its own processing time. Each country page shows typical times, for example 10 to 14 business days for a China visa, or 6 to 8 with rush service. Allow a cushion before your departure, and hold off on non-refundable bookings until your visa is in hand.

Can you get my passport and visa at the same time?

Yes, one after the other. A visa goes into your passport, so place two orders: first your passport order, then your visa order. On the visa order, choose “My own FedEx label · $0” for shipping, so you don’t pay shipping twice; your new passport goes straight on to the visa application. Your total time is your passport speed plus the consulate’s processing time, so start as early as you can, and call us at (800) 672-1015 if you’d like help planning both around your travel date.

What if my visa has a mistake?

Check your visa as soon as it arrives: your name, passport number, dates, and number of entries. If something’s wrong, call us right away and send it back. We’ll take it to the consulate for correction. When the consulate made the error, the correction is free; if the error came from the application, a new fee may apply. Mistakes must be reported before you leave the U.S., because they can’t be corrected once you’ve traveled.
