Quick answer
The Dominican Republic's e-ticket is a free, mandatory online form for everyone arriving or leaving on a commercial flight. Complete it before you travel on the official site, eticket.migracion.gob.do, and you'll get a QR code to show at the airport, for your arrival and your departure. One form can cover your whole family. U.S. citizens don't need a visa for tourist visits, but do need a passport book to fly there.
It's completely free. Websites charging to "process" your e-ticket or tourist card aren't needed.
What Americans need to visit the Dominican Republic
- A valid U.S. passport book. Flying requires a passport book; a passport card isn't enough for air travel. See Do you need a passport?
- Your e-ticket QR codes, for arrival and departure.
- A return or onward ticket.
No visa is needed for tourist visits. The tourist card and the departure tax are already included in your airfare, so there's nothing extra to buy. Make sure your passport is valid for your whole stay: Passport validity checker →
Arrival and departure: you need both
The e-ticket covers both directions. You can complete the arrival and departure parts in one process before you leave home. Each gives a QR code: one for arriving, one for leaving. Airlines and immigration may ask to see them, so have both ready.
Families and groups
One e-ticket can cover a family or group of up to 7 people, with one QR code for everyone on it. You can also fill one out for each person, if you'd rather each traveler have their own QR code.
What you'll need
- Each traveler's passport, with details entered exactly as printed;
- Your flight details, for arrival and departure;

- An email address.

- Enter each traveler's passport details exactly as printed.
- Add your flight and accommodation details.
- Answer the customs and health questions.
- Complete the departure part in the same process, if offered.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Paying a website. The e-ticket is free. The only official address is eticket.migracion.gob.do.
- Forgetting the departure part. You need a QR code to leave the country too.
- Buying a "tourist card". It's already included in your airfare.
- Typos in passport details. Double-check names and passport numbers before submitting.
- An expiring passport. Check your passport before you book. If it needs renewing, we can expedite it as quickly as 4 business days from when your documents reach us.
