Birth certificates in Colorado
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Office of Vital Records, sets one statewide fee: since January 1, 2026, a certified birth certificate costs $25 for the first copy and $20 for each extra copy of the same record ordered at the same time. Local public health vital records offices across the state can issue certificates for births anywhere in Colorado, so you do not have to go to the county where you were born.
Colorado vital records are confidential, so you need valid ID and must be eligible to order. As of June 2026, the only online vendors approved by Colorado Vital Records are VitalChek and GoCertificates. Other websites may charge high extra fees. Ordering directly from a vital records office avoids processing fees entirely. Details are on the Colorado Vital Records ordering page.
