Birth certificates in Connecticut
Where to order depends on your birth year. If you were born in 2002 or later, any town clerk in Connecticut can issue your certified birth certificate. If you were born before 2002, go to the town clerk in the town where you were born, the town where your mother lived at the time, or the State Vital Records Office. A certified copy costs $20 from a town and $30 from the state, and many towns also take online orders.
Connecticut birth records less than 100 years old are confidential. Certified copies go to the person named (18 or older), a parent, spouse, adult child, grandparent or legal guardian, and to a few others listed in state law, with a government photo ID. Details are on the Connecticut Department of Public Health birth certificate page.
